03 — JOKES
Comedy
A handful of open mics, one paid show, and the tape to prove it.
I’ve done standup — a handful of open mics and one show somebody actually paid me for. That doesn’t make me a comedian, but it does mean I’ve stood alone in front of strangers with a microphone and lived, which is more than most people can say.
The sets
Placeholder: where you performed, how the open mics went, the story of the paid show.
Why standup
Placeholder: writing a joke is a lot like writing software — you have a hypothesis, you ship it to production (a room full of strangers), and the feedback is immediate and brutally honest. Then you iterate.
